| How's
School going this year? You had to ask that you mealy-mouth little bastard. My school has let me down, so I'm walking away at this point...I'll be back, but for now, I'm tearing it up in Pictou County, loving my work at CKEC radio, and loving my girlfriend. When you first heard about the Maritime Cup what were your original thoughts? I first heard you were just FLIRTING with the idea...but I was still excited. When I heard it was coming into fruition, I was overjoyed. What are your feelings on how the Maritime Cup was run, as compared to some other promotions you have worked for? New Scott, you seemingly really are the "most powerful man in Maritime Wrestling". You kept your ears open and you let the right people give the right advice. However, you didn't book Vinny or Cinder to wrestle, and that is merely my only complaint. What are your feelings on Johnny Wise guy being sent to prison? I never got to know Johnny Wiseguy really well, but I don't wish this fate on anyone. Out of everybody you have been around, who has been the biggest influence on your career? Vinny Glyde is Vinny Glyde because of the big man Kingman. The big scary 'Sinner beat one hell of an education into me, and he taught me much more than what can be learned between the ropes. The Kowboy Mike Hughes has guided me in the right direction numerous times, and in our one match together, he complimented me, instilled confidence, and raised me to another level. But, I must say, the one man (and yes I said man...not mark, wrestler, worker, promoter, or douche) that has kept Vinny alive the past year, is Cinder. A true friend, a true champion, he'll never know, but he's been tremendous. As of November 13th 2003 how many matches have you taken part in? 60. Look out Cinder, here I come. What are your thoughts on the recent passing of Stu Hart? The whole Hart family is immersed in tragedy, it may sound horrible to say this, but it is almost refreshing to see a Hart pass on in a natural way, and at their natural time. God bless. In what ways would you like to see wrestling changed? More Vinny Glyde, less Lincoln Steen. (That works on many levels...I want to pump on some more muscles, and for God's sake we all want to see Steen lose, well, whatever he calls what's on that body.) But overall, a better appreciation for psychology (myself included) would be wonderful, and a diminishing of unneccesary high spots and glorified violence would also be refreshing. I would love to see true fans of the art in those seats, not self proclaimed "smart marks" who are there just to show off their "knowledge" and run down the workers. How has wrestling changed for you over the past year? Some good, some bad. I've spent the better part of the last year in Mainstream....so yeah. I've had the opportunity to develop Vinny Glyde as a character more in depth than ever, and I've had the chance to work some great talent I've never worked before like Scott Savage, Sweet Sarah, and I've also got to work Steen. So like I said, some good and some bad. I've witnessed an elimination of larger, legitimate promotions that tour, and that makes me cry. what where your thoughts on how Scott Savage made his return to MSW on April 24th 2003? I thought it was great. To be couped up in a back office all evening...great dedication. Even though I didn't know him too well, I may have marked out a bit myself. ;) Has MSW changed now that it has had such workers as Gary Williams and Chi Chi Cruz work for it? It has changed only in the fact that they can now say that Gary Williams and Chi Chi Cruz have worked for them. They still don't pay their rookies, and push them into the ring without complete training, they still hold hokey story lines above credible wrestling, and Lincoln Steen is still puffy. What did it mean to MSW to have the 18 year veteran Chi Chi Cruz in their ring? At the time, it meant simply that the 18 year veteran Chi Chi Cruz was in their ring! I'm not sure if others properly took advantage of his prescence, and I'm not sure if the complete potential of the situation was explored. If Devin would put as much passion into delivering the highest quality wrestling show, and cleaning up his locker room a bit, as he does in marketing and story line creation, then Mainstream would take off. The man, or half man, has a lot of fire, a lot of enery, and a lot of ideas, he just needs some guidance. What does the future hold for Vinny Glyde, wrestling wise ? I'm not sure. Vinny Glyde is as much a part of Ben McCully as my rugged good looks, so he's always around. Right now, he's making CKEC Radio a cooler place, he's saving some money, and he's getting some much deserved R & R. I will be around Mainstream semi-regularly, when and if the proper situations arise, and I can't wait to step in the ring in a promotion that tours regularly, tears up the Maritimes, and has the Kowboy involved...hint, hint New Scott. Who do you feel stepped it up the most in MSW this past year? Call me selfish, but I really feel Vinny Glyde grew TONNES this year, if maybe only on the inside. Like I said, I explored my character more in depth, I went from frollicking with Cypress to chasing the "title", thanks to Cinder I've improved my game and my focus, and lately I've made some rookies bleed. Although, I must say, Tony is starting to get it, and LOL, New Scott has gone from a camera man of MSW, to a legit, successful promoter. How come nobody else noticed that? Who would you like to see MSW bring in next? Vinny Glyde again of course. But I would love to see Kowboy around for one night only just because of what the one time experience could mean to the poor rookies that have a slanted view that THIS is what pro wrestling is all about. Mike Hughes recently stated that MSW doesn't pay its workers, do you have any comments on that? They pay, not overly well or always, but they pay. I justified it like this: I always had a free ride over with you, got more than a few free beer out of it, so with the little money I was making, I was content. I know where Mike is coming from, but Kowboy, man, it was the only game in town, and a green rookie like me needs as many matches as possible. What was your low point wrestling wise in 2003? Laugh it up Steen, laugh it up, but yeah, my low point was doing sound at The Maritime Cup instead of wrestling. Hell, I absolutely loved watching such a high calibre show, and being JUST a mark again was neat, but I feel I could have brought something unique and positive to that show. It was recently stated that Marco Estrada will never work another ECPW show, what are your feelings on this? I wasn't there to get the whole scoop, I was at a very close friend's wedding. (I know you can't understand that Steen, but maybe that's because no woman would ever stomach to say "I do" to you.) Anyway, really, really green workers (like myself) need to be careful to carry themeselves in the most respectful way possible, and to wholeheartedly respect the vets, and being a student of the Sinners, I would expect that from Marco, but if he strayed, that's too bad. What are your feelings on not being booked to wrestle at the Maritime Cup? Other than what I stated above? Well, I feel that I could have been a great addition, and it was a disapointment not be involved in the superb show that may have been Bobby Rude's last dance here...I feel that Cinder and myself would have been better choices than say, Kowboy Mike Hughes or Wildman...okay I'm fucking joking, obviously. But seriously, we could have aided in the show being better, but there's always next year, right New Scott? Name Association Sonny Roselli - I hear he can make one hell of a pizza, and he can be a funy guy too. Legion Cage - Good little worker, funny, has a cool daughter...shouldn't be bald, grow some hair man! New Scott - The mark that has the most of my respect. You've got a head for the business, and it would be a sin for you not to get trained and come full circle. Skott Phoenix - Doesn't come close to Vinny's 9 inches...but has a lot of fire and talent, and if he ever smiles again, he could do lots Tony Armstrong - For his size, what he can do is amazing. But if you are going to be "The Future", look after your future....get in the gym and better yourself. (And yes I'm taking my own advice buddy) Scott Savage - Incredible talent, consumate professional, a bit too much on the gay side...kidding Lincoln Steen - Used to be Vinny Glyde's biggest fan, now the "Stay Puffed" Marshmallow Man is too busy putting buns in the oven, and fretting over why no girl will ever take one of his daily shots Marco Estrada - Pure talent. Incredible athletic ability. Needs to further grasp psychology, and maybe a little more respect. Marco, don't forget how good Vinny made you look in your hometown.;) |
