Your thoughts on the recent TV deal that WWR
has just signed?
I think it's great for the four guys involved. All of them deserve to have gotten
more from this buisness than they have up to this point. Seeing how hard everyone
has worked as part of this, it means alot to see everyone finally getting thier
break on a project that they have worked hard for. I think this is a great opportunity
for everyone, myself included, and I'll be making the most of whatever comes
from this.
What does this mean for the fans of Maritime
wrestling?
Big things hopefully. Fans of the maritimes have found good, consistent wrestling
few and far between the last couple of years. I expect the WWR Project to change
that radically.
Your thoughts on being selected to be apart of
the WWR show?
good office + big plans + means to do it = Happy, Excited and Motivated Tony
Your thoughts on the newest group of wrestlers
in the Maritimes the guys from IHW?
Nice guys, understand the concept of the gym, that's half the battle. More motivation
to keep hitting the gym now. Very hungry group of guys who are quick to take
and give criticism, in constructive ways. Look forward to working with them
on the 25th, and hopefully again over the winter, as I hear good things out
of thier shows in Irishtown, NB. That Eric Doucet kid seems to like Gary's student
Jeff though... No, I mean Eric REALLY likes Jeff...
What are some of the outside names you would
like to see be brought in?
Cheech and Watts. James Champagne really impressed alot of people when he was
down earlier this summer, great attitude. If we're talking TNA or Major Indy
Names: Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Abyss, Samoa Joe, Nigel McGuinness
Your thoughts on the effort that most local guys
put into getting booked else where?
Not my place to comment on others buisness really. All I can defend is my own
actions. No full-time Wrestling + Full-Time University Schedule + Need to lose
60 Pounds = No real point right now. What's the point to go to Vancouver, spend
a month out there, maybe wrestle 20-25 times, learning from some, carrying most
and come home with No Money in my pocket, and a shitload of bills in front of
me. I'm not at the level of being in shape to get the eye of people who pay
good money. However give it time, You'll see me travelling around sooner than
later.
Your thoughts on the Wildman Academy -
One of the best wrestling school's to go to in the country. Guy has knowledge,
patience and connections. Gary is probably one of the nicest guys I've met in
the buisness, and he won't bullshit a person on if they're doing something wrong.
He has a combonation patience/aggresiveness that works as a great motivator.
He'll tell you if something your doing looks like shit, but won't bring you
down to do so. With regular appearances by guys around the territory, there's
alot to learn, and allows me to learn things I need to brush up on.
Your thoughts on his students -
Chris, Aaron, Jeff and Speeds are all progressing well. They picked a good school
to go to. They all have things they need to improve on, in and out of ring,
but they've only been at this a short time. They're way ahead of the game than
where I was at thier point. I think Speeds like's Jeff... No, I really mean
Speeds LIKES Jeff...
What can fans expect to see on Nov 25th?
Expect to see a more aggressive and risk taking Tony Armstrong than ever before.
Any message for the people that doubt WWR will
succeed?
These people aren't worth aknowledging.
Any message for your opponent Ryan Storm?
He'll be shitting chops for a week when I get done with him.
Tell us how everything has been going in the
gym for you lately?
The gym is great, Kingman Smith and Myself have talked alot, and he has opened
my eyes to proper nutrition. It's surprising when you actually look at packaging
for stuff, that how bad that processed 'healthy foods' can be. Most of my eating
(I don't like using the word diet, as diet's end, I see this more as a lifestyle
change) consists of whole foods (Eggs (Whole and Whites), Cottage Cheese, Yougurt,
Oatmeal, Brown Rice, Plenty Of Meats, Chicken, Fish, Natural PB and of course
the Tuna.)
It's a great eating plan that keeps cravings for foods to a minimum, and with
increased Cardio and Ab's workouts on top of my lifting has helped me drop about
17 pounds in 4 weeks to sit just below 310. We've been talking about things
next spring, and I'm aiming to settle in around 250-255 by May 1st. The best
thing about Pete is that he knows exact what buttons to push to motivate people,
and he's always happy to give advice to those who'll use it.
CN Power recently called your friend Lincoln
Steen Cancer, care to comment on that?
I like CN Power and Steen, I think both are great guys, and need to discuss
thier differences, but as it pertains to the situation, Other than the fact
that people need to think before they talk, No Comment.
Do you have to be a bodybuilder to be a wrestler?
That's a ridiculous question. No, you don't. Does it help to have a good body,
of course. Does it make you more marketable, yes it does. Have people made a
living off the industry without looking like they walked off the cover of Muscle
and Fitness: Vader, Dusty Rhodes, Dean Malenko, Samoa Joe, Jericho, Bret Hart
and Shinya Hashimoto are just a few of the examples of guys who didn't look
like bodybuilders, and made a living off the buisness. People seem to over react
to peoples comments on "Being in Shape" as needing to be cut to shreds,
looking like Jay Cutler, or Dorian Yates. At the very least, Wrestlers should
be athletic, and resemble someone that a fan wouldn't want to get into a fight
with. I agree that about 4/5th's of current indy wrestlers should find thier
way to a Weight Room and try to get in shape. There's a difference between Working
out/being in great physical shape and being a bodybuilder.
Any closing comments?
No.
