Do you think you will be able to get more bookings
in the Ontario area?
I’m hoping so. I’ve gotten over five bookings before
the end of February. So I think thats a half decent start. I’m hoping
to stay as busy as possible and learn as much as I can along the way.
You are currently one half of the UCW tag team
champions with Sexton Phoenix, what will become of that team now that you are
leaving?
I have no idea to be honest. It’s been fun tagging with Sexton and hanging
out at his place. All good things come to an end I guess. I’m not gonna
say what will or what wont happen with the situation. But all I can say is that
I will be back for UCW again.
Do you think it is good business on your half
to leave while still champion in another promotion?
Usually no, it’s not the wisest move doing that. I made a big life and
career decision in a time where there wasn’t any more up coming UCW shows
due to the holiday season. I have spoken to the promoter of UCW, Chuck Martin
and there is no lost blood. I’ve been working for him for well over a
year now and I don’t have one complaint. Not even a small one. He has
given me everything I’ve asked for if not more. Good matches, good atmosphere
and everything on the business side as well. I strongly recommend working with
Chuck and UCW. As far as the title goes, you’ll have to all go to the
next UCW show and find out first hand!
MainStream Wrestling usually holds a large tour
in the spring will you be coming back for that tour this year?
Here’s another promotion that has done nothing but advance me in my career.
I’ve learned soo much from working with guys like Vance Neveda, Gurv Sihra,
Giant Grimez, X-Ray, Bolen, Kowboy Mike Hughes, Robbie MacAllister, Lincoln
Steen, Brody Steel, and many many more. I’m very grateful to have had
the opportunities I have had working with this group. Promoter Devin Chittick
has treated me fairly since day one. I appreciate you’re continued level
of support. All that being said... I wouldn’t miss the 2010 MSW tour for
the world! My good friend Bee Machine usually travels with me on road trips,
so nine times out of ten if you see the Bee, you see me!
What do you expect to gain from relocating to
Ontario?
I’m not going to sit here and make any promises to anyone about what will
or wont happen. All I can say, is that I’m going to try my hardest and
push myself in the ring and in the gym. My trainer runs a school not even a
twenty minute drive from my house. So I plan on attending as much as I possibly
can. I have already made some good contacts in that area and hope to make even
more. It was actually Ontario where my WWE tryout came from. It came from my
trainer Wayne Cryderman (Crusher Kline). He has been a big help and a damn good
motivator to I might add haha. I recommend him to anyone wanting to pursue pro
wrestling. You can contact them here at http://www.bodyslammers.ragewrestling.net
Where does your name Joshua James Burton "The
Real" J.J.B come from?
The name JJB came from bits of myself and father. My real name is Joshua, my
father’s name is Burton. The James was a good filler for it I thought.
I always like wrestlers with 3 initials, HBK, JBL, HHH, etc. It doesn’t
have any real sentimental value though. “The Real” came from the
fact that everything I do in the ring is real. I try to bring an element of
my true self into the ring. Tap into my “real” emotions.
Do you have anything you would like to say to
your fans in the Maritimes?
Yeah of course! I’ve worked in a few different places, Missouri, Ottawa,
Quebec, Maine, etc and the Maritimes has their own breed of fans. I love how
the fans don’t go all crazy for meaningless “highspots”, they
enjoy a good solid story. Which I found for me was perfect. It gave me a good
solid base to learn the art of psychology. I learn more and more everyday. I
would like to say thanks to the fans of IHW, XWA, MSW, UCW, ECCPW, and NBW.
You have all been wonderful and I’m sure I’ll see you all again
one day! Keep going to the shows and booing the bad guys and cheering on the
good guys! Thanks once again!
Any closing comments?
The Maritimes has been my home for twenty-two years now. I have had some ups
and had some downs. Ever since I started wrestling it’s been a rollercoaster
ride. I’ve worked in every Maritime province on more than one occasion
and I’ve loved every second of it! Thanks to the guys like Brody Steel,
Kowboy Mike Hughes and Gary Williams. You’ve all helped me so much without
even realizing it I bet. I’m very happy that you’ve taken time to
answer my questions over the past little while. I’d also like to thank
a few wrestlers, Lincoln Steen, Sexton Pheonix, Shawnathan Rouge, Titus, Julien,
Nick Teeth, Chris Cooke, X-Ray, its been fun being on the road with all of you
guys. You each have taught me a little bit aswell. I was pleasure stepping into
the ring with all of you guys. Keep it up and I’ll be back down for some
shows before you know it!
Also, in closing. Newscott... thank you man! Every time I wrestle at Doolittles
Bar in Dartmouth we would go to the mall to kill time cause I’d rather
be SUPER early than SUPER late haha. I appreciate you taking the time to write
up these questions for me brother. You’ve been a big help to me since
day one.
I’m gonna miss you brother! Take care and merry Christmas!

MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone!
I for one want to thank you for some of the good
matches you have had here over the past year, and let you know that you will
be missed as someone who has become a main stay on shows around here over the
past little while. Best of luck in Ontario and I hope to see you back here soon!
